The L-Spot Basker Dragonfly is easily confused with the Scarlet Percher, the Wandering Percher and the Fiery Skimmer at first glance.

The L-Spot Basker has a thicker tail and not the golf tee shape of the Fiery Skimmer or Wandering Percher.

It is also very similar to the Red Arrow dragonfly but can be distinguished by the brown "L" shaped mark at the base of each hindwing.
